Neither man has gone the distance as a pro
Top heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba returns to action on July 20th, facing fellow Rio competitor Ali Eren Demirezen on the Manny Pacquiao-Keith Thurman undercard. The fight airs as part of the FS1- and Fox Deportes-aired segment headlined by Caleb Plant vs. Mike Lee.
Ajagba (10-0, 9 KO) has gone past the second round just once as a pro, stopping seven foes inside the first three minutes. His 2019 campaign has seen him thrash veteran Amir Mansour in March and Germany’s Michael Wallisch in late April.
Demirezen (11-0, 10 KO), representing his native Turkey in the 2016 Games, reached the Round of 16 on a bye before falling to eventual bronze medalist and current star prospect Filip Hrgovic. Like Ajagba, the only non-knockout victory on his record came via DQ, which earned him the WBO European title on April 6th.
Demirezen’s professional opposition hasn’t been as stiff as Ajagba’s, but this looks to be a quality matchup between a pair of hard-hitting unbeatens in their 20s.
