The light heavyweight prospect remains unbeaten with a one-sided win.

British light heavyweight prospect Joshua Buatsi got a stay-busy sort of fight on the Joshua-Ruiz card this evening, and took care of business, stopping Mexican veteran Marco Antonio Periban in the fourth round.

Our Joshua vs Ruiz live coverage continues here!

Buatsi (11-0, 9 KO) put Periban (25-5-1, 16 KO) down in the fourth round, then stopped him when the referee jumped in to end an assault on the 34-year-old Periban, a former super middleweight title challenger who hadn’t fought in two years.

Buatsi, 26, competed at the 2016 Olympics, winning a bronze medal in Rio, and has been good thus far as a pro, earning rave reviews for his performances and his attitude in and out of the ring.

This win over Periban may not have told us anything we didn’t already know, but Buatsi is still working and improving, too. Periban was clearly no threat to him, but there was still clear evidence that Buatsi has some things that can stand improving on defense especially. He’s still a ways off from that top level, especially in a division as good at the top as 175 is right now, but he’s on his way.
