The cult favorite is out of his scheduled fight for Saturday.

Clay Collard, the 2020 folk hero of boxing who was set to go for his sixth win of the year on Saturday, is off of the Lomachenko-Lopez undercard after testing positive for coronavirus, according to ESPN.com.

The 27-year-old Collard was set to face Quincy LaVallais on the show, which would have been a rematch of a 2019 fight that went to a six-round draw.

Collard (9-2-3, 4 KO) has emerged as a boxing cult favorite thanks largely to upset wins over teenage prospects Raymond Guajardo and David Kaminsky in February and June of this year, was set to face Quincy LaVallais on the show. Collard tells ESPN that “this won’t stop me for long,” and we do know he plans to return to MMA at some point, too, with a PFL debut coming in 2021 for the ex-UFC fighter. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him back on a Top Rank show in November or December, either.

The show still goes on, with the main event in place and the rest of a pretty decent undercard, too, which still features Arnold Barboza Jr vs Alex Saucedo, Edgar Berlanga, and more.
