Anthony Crolla knows the odds, and knows what a win on Friday would mean.

Anthony Crolla has no delusions about Friday’s matchup with Vasiliy Lomachenko: he’s the massive underdog, and a win over the lightweight titleholder would send shockwaves throughout the boxing world.

The 32-year-old Crolla will face Lomachenko in Los Angeles, streaming live on ESPN+, and says a stunner would be “a life-changing moment,” and that it would be the biggest upset in the sport:

“I walk to that ring, nothing other than trying to pull off the biggest upset in boxing, and that’s exactly what I’ll be going out there trying to do. I can’t wait to have the opportunity to go and do that. I’ve prepared the best I possibly can to give myself the best chance of pulling this off. Without a doubt, a life-changing moment for me and the team around me.”

Crolla (34-6-3, 13 KO) isn’t being given much of a chance to even compete in this fight, let alone actually win. He’s listed around a +1600 underdog, with Lomachenko (12-1, 9 KO) at -10000. That’s 10 thousand, not one thousand.

His longtime trainer Joe Gallagher says that Crolla will give it his all, but that’s not doubted by anyone. He’s a game guy, always, but it’s going to take something near a miracle for this upset to happen.
