The former European champ looks to bounce back from defeat.

Former two-time European lightweight champion Edis Tatli will return to the ring at home in Finland on Aug. 10, facing Berman Sanchez in a main event from Savonlinna.

Tatli, 31, is coming off of a fifth round knockout loss to hot rising star Teofimo Lopez on April 20, when the veteran came to New York for that fight on the Crawford-Khan pay-per-view undercard. The bout went about as expected, with Tatli ultimately just the latest stepping stone for the fast-advancing young lightweight standout.

Against Sanchez (29-8-3, 21 KO), he gets back to the level where he probably fits better. The 35-year-old Nicaraguan, based in Costa Rica, is a bit of a world traveler. He’s fought most of his bouts in Costa Rica, but has also fought in Mexico, Colombia, France, and Denmark. He’s gone just 1-5 outside of Costa Rica.

Tatli (31-3, 10 KO) has probably achieved all he’s going to achieve, being honest — he is, at best, a European-level fighter, which is a good level, but he’s not going to be seriously competing for world titles or anything. That doesn’t mean he couldn’t fight for one, just that he won’t be a real threat to win one.
