Davis had his first fight in 10 months on February 9th

Gervonta Davis appears to be fast-tracking his yearly legal issues. TMZ Sports reports that “Tank” has a warrant out for his arrest stemming from a February 17th incident at an ATM that saw Davis allegedly assault a man and shove one of the responding officers. He usually waits until at least halfway through the year to run into legal trouble, but I can understand some impatience considering his promotional issues.

Davis (21-0, 20 KO) has fought just twice since 2017, stopping Jesus Cuellar last April and pummeling late replacement Hugo Ruiz less than a month back. He’s expressed discontent with his inactivity and repeatedly struggled to make weight; at least to my eyes, we’re closing in on a Full Broner, wherein a fighter’s capabilities in the ring are completely overshadowed by the drama that follows them outside of it.

The tragedy is that Davis looks to be much more talented than Broner and has a bevy of delightfully interesting matchups for him in the 130-pound division. It’s legitimately impressive that a dude can have so many cautionary tales to look at and still keep screwing up, though.
