The deal spans the next three years.

There were talks that Gennady Golovkin signed a deal with DAZN, then reports that the there were some hold-ups at the end, but Golovkin and DAZN have finally seen their deal cross the finish line, per and ESPN report.

Very early this morning, around 1:30 a.m., Golovkin signed a three-year, six-fight contract with the streaming platform, but the exact amount of Golovkin is set to earn under this deal has not been released. And with Golovkin soon to be 37-years-old, it’s likely that this deal will see Golovkin through the remainder of his in-the-ring boxing career.

Golovkin’s first fight under his new deal is expected to be held on June 8 or June 16 against an opponent to be determined at a site not yet set, but the thought is that it will set him up for a third fight against Canelo Alvarez in September should Canelo beat Daniel Jacobs in May.

The deal wit DAZN also provides Golovkin with a platform to promote two fight cards a year in 2020 and 2021 as he attempts to build his own stable under GGG Promotions.

“DAZN has quickly become the new home of boxing by making the biggest events easily available to the fans,” Golovkin said. “When deciding on where I wanted to continue my career, DAZN’s global vision perfectly matched my goals — not just for my career but the opportunity to showcase talented Eastern European fighters to the world. Thank you to my fans for all of the loyal support and I look forward to you joining me on DAZN.”

DAZN now holds three of the biggest boxing stars out there, with Golovkin joining both Canelo Alvarez and Anthony Joshua on the streaming platform. More particulars on Golovkin’s deal are expected to be released next week in Los Angeles during a press conference.
