Hearn says it’s time to give the fans the fight they want.

While WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury continues to sort out the ‘will they, won’t they’ of Fury-Wilder III, and unified champion Anthony Joshua defends against Kubrat Pulev, Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn tells Sky Sports that he’s ready to get straight to business.

That would be, of course, the business of staging an undisputed heavyweight unification between Fury and Joshua. Hearn says if Fury won’t be fighting Wilder again there’s no need for him to take on a lesser, stay-busy opponent — not when he can go straight into a fight with Joshua.

“We have the dynamics of the deal in place. I don’t want to hear [from] Fury: ‘No, I’m thinking about fighting in March or April.’ Why? Just go straight into the AJ fight. It’s going to be the same timeframe.

“Listen, Fury doesn’t want to take a small fight. They couldn’t even get the money together to give him a fight in December, so let’s give him plenty of money. Let’s give him the biggest fight.”

This fight is naturally contingent on Joshua successfully getting through his December 12th fight with Pulev, which he’s generally expected to do, but that was also the case when he faced Andy Ruiz. So, you never can be completely sure of what will happen. But should Joshua win and Fury move on from a third fight with Wilder, Fury-Joshua is the clear and obvious fight to make at heavyweight.
