Hrgovic is set to face Rydell Booker, while Dubois will square off against Joe Joyce

Top Croatian prospect Filip Hrgovic is making up for lost time at the moment, as he’s already set to face Rydell Booker on November 7th despite scoring a knockout just two weeks back. While he does that, his handlers have their sights on a blockbuster clash of prospects; both Eddie Hearn and Nisse Sauerland tell Sky Sports that they’d pit Hrgovic against former sparring partner Daniel Dubois.

“Great fight. We’ve all heard the sparring stories, let’s find out if they’re true or not,” said Hearn, who co-promotes Hrgovic with Sauerland.

“Two great young heavyweights, who are both top 10 in the world now.”

Despite this proclamation, Sauerland is a bit more reserved with his enthusiasm than Hearn.

“The conditions have to be right – for a title of some sort. It needs to mean something, but we’re game. Let’s see if they are up for it.

“We want to progress as quickly as possible at the same time. We won’t wait for a Dubois or a Joyce – we believe Filip is far past them talent-wise. They aren’t bad fighters but they need to prove themselves against each other.

“We are waiting but we won’t wait too long for that kind of a fight. We have our sights set on some very big fights.”

Dubois (15-0, 14 KO) is the closer of the two to a title, sitting just behind Oleksandr Usyk as #2 in the WBO rankings. Hrgovic’s (11-0, 9 KO) highest spot is IBF #6, and his overall strength of schedule lags behind “Dynamite’s” at this point.

There’s obviously plenty of obstacles involved, from promotional conflicts with Frank Warren to the very literal obstacle that is Joe Joyce on November 28th. I have no illusions about this fight actually taking place in the foreseeable future, but I can’t say it’s not an appealing fantasy.
