Khan won’t be out of action for too long.

Welterweight contender Amir Khan is coming off of a weird TKO-6 loss to Terence Crawford on April 20, where Khan or his corner or someone called it off after Crawford landed a low blow in the sixth round, and Amir has an update on his career today.

It’s not a great update, as he’s had surgery on his right elbow, which he says will keep him from punching for 3-4 weeks.

“I’ve had an operation today on my elbow area from the last fight. I could feel the pain when I was throwing the right hand,” Khan said. “I’m glad I’ve got that sorted out and fixed, so hopefully I’ll be back in the ring very soon.”

The 32-year-old Khan (33-5, 20 KO) says he hopes to “come back stronger” after the surgery. Khan has again been linked to a potential, overdue showdown with UK media rival Kell Brook.

Khan does plan to fight again, which he made clear as soon as the post-fight press conference after the Crawford bout. You’d think interest would be low, but he’s still go name value in the sport, so whatever he does will get some attention.
