The outlet that announced Wladimir Klitschko’s imminent return admits he’s still only considering a comeback.
Joke’s on you, boxing fans.
In case you haven’t figured it out by now, yesterday’s reports of Wladimir Klitschko’s return to boxing was just an April Fool’s joke by Ukrainian media outlet Sport Arena. After they created a stir with their announcement, they released the following statement regarding Klitschko.
“Perhaps, Wladimir will return to the ring. He is only thinking about that (right now). But the date and venue of the fight is just a joke from Sport Arena,” they said.
That said, Klitschko is still mentioned to be possibly considering a return to boxing, and a big money deal from DAZN is also said to be a legit offer for the former champion to make a return. Who’s to know what Klitschko is exactly thinking at this moment, but the heavyweight division is certainly a lot more interesting now than during Klitschko’s entire reign and there could be some big fights to make.
But whether or not Klitschko ever decides to make a comeback, there are still good fights to be made in the heavyweight division — if the sport can push it’s bullshit politics to the side. That’s, however, is highly unlikely. So we’ll just have to see what 2019 has in store for its glamour division, although right now it’s not looking so good.
