All four incidents involved the same woman

Light heavyweight contender and terrible person Marcus Browne has been arrested for the fourth time in 18 months for a fourth incident with his ex-girlfriend. Browne “was charged with felony counts of criminal contempt and aggravated family offense” and is “also accused of misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and criminal contempt.”

Browne (26-0, 19 KO) reportedly forced his way into her apartment and “refused to leave.” He is less than five months removed from pleading guilty to “criminal contempt in the second degree,” having choked the same woman in September and attempted to break into her apartment the previous March. Both incidents violated a protection order stemming from a 2017 incident where he assaulted, once again, the same woman.

Browne received conditional discharges and mandatory domestic violence courses for the previous incidents. No jail time, no probation. No clue if this violates the conditions of his release, but apparently the last charge didn’t, so probably not.

Browne is currently booked to fight Jean Pascal on August 3rd as part of a PBC on FOX tripleheader. The three previous arrests only resulted in one fight cancellation, scrapping a planned title shot against Sergey Kovalev. Time to see how PBC deals with the sunk cost fallacy.
