A pair of super middleweight fights will be on the card.

Matchroom Boxing have already announced three women’s world title fights for a Nov. 14 bill headlined by Katie Taylor, and now have added two super middleweights bout to the card, as well.

Jamie Cox will face Jack Cullen in a meeting of veterans who need a win, while John Docherty will step up in competition against Jack Arnfield. Both fights are set for 10 rounds.

The 34-year-old Cox (25-2, 14 KO) has lost two of his last three. He was stopped in four by George Groves in Oct. 2017, and in two by John Ryder in May 2018, which was his last fight, so this is a comeback bout for the Swindon southpaw.

The 26-year-old Cullen (18-2-1, 98 KO) has one of boxing’s current best nicknames — “Little Lever’s Meat Cleaver” — and at 6’3” will still be big at 168, moving up from 160. In Nov. 2019 he challenged Felix Cash for the Commonwealth middleweight title and was stopped in the eighth round of a good fight, and last time out he went to a 165-pound catchweight draw with Zak Chelli on Aug. 22, which we felt was pretty generous to Cullen, in all honesty.

Docherty, 22, is the most intriguing and promising of this quintet. The Scottish southpaw is 9-0 (7 KO) so far, but the 31-year-old Arnfield (25-3, 6 KO) is a huge step up in competition; it’s not that Arnfield is so great or anything, but he’s a solid domestic fighter and two-time British title challenger at 160. His last fight was a British title bout in early 2018, which he lost to Tommy Langford, so he’s also been out a long while. Like Cox, he’s really making a comeback here, but if he’s the fighter he was then, it’s a nice step for Docherty.
