unnamed.0 - Murphys Boxing coming to UFC Fight Pass on May 10

Super featherweight Abraham Nova will headline the show.

UFC Fight Pass has added another boxing partner to its lineup, as Murphys Boxing will debut on the streaming service on Friday, May 10, headlining with a fight featuring super featherweight prospect Abraham Nova.

This comes just after the news that Fight Pass will get its first boxing world title fight on June 19, when Aston Palicte travels to Japan to face Kazuto Ioka for the vacant WBO super flyweight title.

The Murphys Boxing card will take place at MGM Springfield in Springfield, Mass.

Nova (14-0, 10 KO) is a 25-year-old Puerto Rican fighter who was set to fight on ShoBox in February of this year, but his bout was canceled when his opponent had visa issues. He doesn’t have an opponent for this fight yet, but as NABA titleholder at 130, he’s hoping to make a real move within the WBA rankings.

“I truly feel I am ready to take on anyone in the top 10,” Nova said. “I hope to be in position for a mandatory shot at the WBA world title by the end of the year. I am staying focused, having a great training camp, and I intend to make a statement to the rest of the division on May 10.”

Nova’s main event is set for 10 rounds.

And you’ve heard of cards with co-main events, but this card is promising “dual co-features.”

In one, another super featherweight, William Foster III (9-0, 6 KO) will be featured in a six-round bout against an opponent to be named. In the other, middleweight Carlos Gongora (15-0, 12 KO) will face Argentina’s Damien Ezequiel Bonelli (23-6, 20 KO) in an eight-rounder. Gongora, 29, is a two-time Olympian, representing Ecuador in 2008 and 2012.

Other fights on the card:

  • Venezuelan Olympian Luis Arcon (6-0, 6 KO) will face Jose Aubel (8-3, 7 KO) in a six-round welterweight fight.
  • Local welterweight James Perella (2-0, 2 KO) returns in a four-round bout.
  • Springfield locals Calixto Cruz (1-0, 0 KO) and DJ Whitley (4-1-1, 0 KO) will be back in four-round bouts at lightweight and welterweight, respectively.
