Andy Ruiz Jr fights on Saturday, but says he’s opening to turning right back around and facing Anthony Joshua.
Heavyweight contender Andy Ruiz Jr (31-1, 20 KO) is set to face veteran Alexander Dimitrenko (41-4, 26 KO) on this Saturday’s PBC on FOX card, headlined by Danny Garcia vs Adrian Granados, and says that if things go well, he’d be ready to come back on June 1 and face Anthony Joshua, who looks like he’s in need of a new opponent.
On Jarrell Miller’s failed drug test
“That’s a big disappointment. Hopefully they don’t (cancel) the fight, but I’m pretty sure they probably did. If the fight’s off and everything goes good (on Saturday), I’ll be ready for June 1 after April 20.”
On facing Joshua being realistic
“I don’t know. Anything could happen, boxing’s crazy. But I’ll be ready. … I’d have to call the boss man Al Haymon and Tom Brown, see what happens. But first I gotta get through Alexander on April 20.”
Hearn’s list of potential opponents
“I already saw Joshua and Whyte fight, I’d like to see (Luis) Ortiz get the title shot. He’s a good guy, humble guy. … (Ortiz) could (give Joshua problems), but in my eyes, I think Joshua would win the fight.”
