The fight will be an IBF eliminator at 108 pounds.
The IBF ordered an eliminator for the No. 1 ranking at 108 pounds between Christian Araneta and Augustin Gauto, and earlier today in New Jersey, Sampson Boxing won the bid for the fight at $63,000, beating out OR Promotions at $61,500.
Sampson Boxing promotes Araneta, while OR Promotions represent Gauto.
Araneta (17-0, 14 KO) is a 24-year-old Filipino fighter who has never fought outside of his home country. He’s currently ranked No. 40 in the world by BoxRec. Gauto (12-0, 8 KO) is a 21-year-old fighter from Argentina, currently ranked No. 38 in the world by BoxRec.
The IBF 108-pound title is currently held by Felix Alvarado (35-2, 30 KO), a 30-year-old Nicaraguan who won the vacant title last August by beating Randy Petalcorin. Alvarado defended successfully on May 19 in Japan, defeating Reiya Konishi, and hasn’t lost since back-to-back defeats against Kazuto Ioka and Juan Carlos Reveco in 2013-14.
