Sulecki reportedly injured his hand against Gabriel Rosado last month
It seems we may have spoken too soon.
Maciej Sulecki entered his fight against Gabriel Rosado last month with the expectation that the winner would challenge Demetrius Andrade for the WBO middleweight title, and though he survived a disastrous ninth round to come out on top, a hand injury appeared to leave him sidelined for the immediate future. As it turns out, the injury may not have been as severe as initially thought, and Sulecki is reportedly expected to face Andrade on June 22nd or 29th.
Sulecki (28-1, 11 KO) previously expressed confusion when his withdrawal was announced, claiming that he would only be sidelined for a week or two. This is good news; the Pole is a far more appealing opponent for Andrade than those ranked below him like Jack Culcay, Steven Butler, and Alantez Fox.
Between this and the Golovkin sweepstakes, the middleweight division has been a riveting show outside the ring, at the very least.
