Taylor will get her shot at becoming undisputed lightweight champion.

It’s set. Unified lightweight champion Katie Taylor (13-0, 6 KOs) has been added to the Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller card on June 1st where she’ll be taking on Delfine Persoon (43-1, 18 KOs) for the last remaining major world title she doesn’t currently hold.

Taylor, 32, expressed her enthusiasm about the fight being made to Sky Sports:

“It’s great that she has finally signed for the fight and I’m delighted that [promoter Eddie Hearn] has been able to make it.

“When I turned professional my first goal was to win a world title but then my next priority was to become undisputed champion so obviously this fight gives me the opportunity to do that so it’s massive for my career.”

Taylor is most recently coming off a stoppage win over Rose Volante last month while Persoon most recently stopped Melissa St. Vil to successfully defend her WBC belt. Persoon obviously hasn’t faced someone with the pedigree of Taylor though, despite her 44 professional fights, but has the opportunity to really make a bold statement here if she can pull off the win.
