Taylor and Baranchyk collide in the WBSS semifinals this weekend.

With junior welterweight Josh Taylor (14-0, 12 KOs) winding down his training camp before he faces Ivan Baranchyk (19-0, 12 KOs) in a World Boxing Super Series’ semifinals match, the Scottish fighter shares some thoughts about what he makes of Baranchyk bringing in the heralded Freddie Roach to man his corner.

“Seven weeks with Freddie Roach is not enough time – if anything it’s a bit of a disadvantage,” said Taylor, who is WBC ‘silver’ champion.

”It’s not enough time to link up with a new trainer and to get to know him, and for him to know your strengths and weaknesses.”

That said, Taylor does mention that he believes Barnachyk will provide the toughest test of his career, calling Baranchyk a dangerous fighter who throws with mean intentions. In spite of that, though, Taylor insists he’s fully prepared for what Baranchyk will bring into the ring and says he’ll have an answer for everything.

The winner of this weekend’s fight, streaming live on DAZN, will move on to the tournament’s finals match where WBA titleholder Regis Prograis (24-0, 20 KOs) awaits…
