Galahad is Warrington’s mandatory challenger

It looks as though IBF featherweight champion Josh Warrington’s hand injury wasn’t too severe. He and mandatory challenger Kid Galahad held a press conference today confirming their bout, originally scheduled for May 4th, will take place on June 15th in Warrington’s native Leeds.

You can watch said press conference, which saw Galahad (26-0, 15 KO) grilled by both Warrington’s (28-0, 6 KO) team and the audience for his failed drug test for stanozolol in 2015, here.

Galahad wound up serving 18 months of his original two-year ban and has since picked up notable victories over Jose Cayetano and Toka Kahn Clary, the latter of which earned him the IBF mandatory spot. Warrington is presently riding high off of consecutive decisions over Lee Selby and Carl Frampton.

There had been a mild scare over whether the hand injury would keep Warrington out of action past the IBF-mandated deadline, but it looks like they’re good to go.
