Wilder responds to the many reports that Klitschko is considering a return to boxing.

Deontay Wilder has heard all the rumblings suggesting that Wladimir Klitschko might be thinking about a come back to boxing. And if Klitschko does decide to come out of retirement Wilder says that he need to rebuild himself before possibly getting a title shot with him.

“We’ll still have to see what he does, Let him get back in and build him up,” said Wilder.

“Look, Klitschko, when he fought (three-belt champion, Anthony) Joshua, he was out for two years. He came back and lost so he got to build himself back up.

“He can only live off his name for so long. You get to the point where (you’re not) that fighter that you used to be.”

Wilder would backtrack from that last statement ever so slightly, acknowledging that Klitschko has accomplished a lot in boxing and that can’t be taken away from him, but that he’ll definitely need to ease into things before facing someone like him (who would try to catch that body).

The WBC champion would even go on to say he doubts Klitschko would even want a fight against him even if he did return, knowing the kind of danger he would present. Klitschko, for now anyway, has only hinted at the possibility of a return with some big offers rumored to be on the table for him should he try to pursue it. But as of now nothing seems imminent.
