Deontay Wilder maintains that a fight against Anthony Joshua is inevitable.

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder maintains that despite the struggles to agree to terms for an undisputed heavyweight title unification with Anthony Joshua, the fight will still happen eventually.

Wilder tells Sky Sports that there will come a day where then can only be one heavyweight champion, and that he’s sure he’ll be the last man standing. The titleholder even goes on to say that he’s proven his willingness to mix it up with the best fighters in the division, intimating that he’s not avoiding Joshua.

“Bermane Stiverne, Alexander Povetkin, Luis Ortiz, and Tyson Fury. I’ve proven time and time again that I will fight any heavyweight, but when it’s as big as me and Joshua then it has to be right.

“The fight will happen one day, and you’ll see that I was right all along when they give me my roses and I get to smell them.”

Thus far the whole saga between Joshua and Wilder has appeared to be one long promotional push as both fighters hope to build an eventual meeting into a massive attraction. But one loss from either fighter on their way to building that fight could easily see it all go up in smoke.
