CSGO: FaZe Drops Neo From Roster

FaZe Clan has released Filip “NEO” Kubski after a brief stint as a substitute.

FaZe Clan announced their decision to drop Filip “NEO” Kubski from their roster today. The move follows FaZe’s disappointing exit from the StarLadder Berlin Major, where they finished in 12-14th place. Kubski was signed by the team in May to take over the in-game leader responsibilities.

FaZe Clan has struggled with roster instability since their decision to remove in-game leader Finn “karrigan” Andersen late last year. After a short period with Dauren “AdreN” Kystaubayev, the mixed-European squad picked up former Virtus.pro star Filip “NEO” Kubski. The Polish veteran took over as the team’s shot caller. Nikola “NiKo” Kovač had been leading the team since the FACEIT London Major.

Under Kubski’s leadership, FaZe managed a semifinal appearance at DreamHack Masters Dallas and a second place finish at BLAST Pro Series Los Angeles. The squad also took some harsh eliminations, being knocked out of ESL One Cologne in 9-12th place by Andersen’s new mousesports roster. Once at the Berlin Major, FaZe managed only one win over mousesports before suffering three consecutive losses to Vitality, CR4ZY, and Renegades. The team was eliminated in 12-14th place, making it the first time the organization had missed a Major play-off since PGL Krakow 2017.

There is currently no confirmation on who will be replacing Kubski on the lineup, though former ENCE IGL Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen has been rumored. Analysts expect more changes to come FaZe’s way, with Slovakian AWPer Ladislav “GuardiaN” Kovács also rumored to be on his way out. Former MIBR star Marcelo “coldzera” David and 18-year-old Helvijs “broky” Saukants are possibly being considered by FaZe as potential replacements.

FaZe Clan’s next showing will come at ESL One New York at the end of this month.
