3 changes by Arteta, £36m-rated ace axed & Partey debuts: Predicted Arsenal XI vs MCFC – opinion

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta heads back to his old stomping ground later this evening as Manchester City welcome the Gunners to the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s student has enjoyed a successful start to his managerial career having clinched the FA Cup and Community Shield in north London.

His side also find themselves inside the top four, some five points clear of today’s opponents, so we’re in for an intriguing clash.

But what sort of side will Arteta select for this one? Here’s what we are predicting…

The Gunners boss could make as many as three changes across the pitch.

Between the sticks, Bernd Leno will undoubtedly keep his place whilst the back four in front of him are also safe following their 2-1 victory over Sheffield United last time out.

There were doubts over whether or not Kieran Tierney would be available, but it appears as if Arsenal have won and is now set to feature. He’ll play alongside summer arrival Gabriel, David Luiz and Hector Bellerin.

Only one name remains from a midfield three and that’s Dani Ceballos, who’ll play in a slightly advanced role inside the engine room. This is because Arteta could hand a surprise debut to Thomas Partey in an anchorman role.

Granit Xhaka also returns to the starting XI this time around.

Both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Willian keep their places out on the wings but Eddie Nketiah makes way for Alexandre Lacazette.

It means the £36m-rated newly-capped England international Bukayo Saka and steady operator Mohamed Elneny are also dropped from the lineup.

AND in other news, £34m call on “dangerous” flop has proven to be Unai Emery’s best moment…
