As he did on Wednesday, we expect undoubted first-choice goalkeeper Alisson, who pulled off some fine saves against Monterrey, to take his place between the sticks.

There are two changes to the back four that started against the Mexican outfit in midweek, with Virgil van Dijk returning after he missed out in the last match, and Trent Alexander-Arnold coming in at right back – Andrew Robertson and Joe Gomez keep their spots.

The two makeshift players that started in defence last time out in Jordan Henderson and James Milner move forward into the midfield engine room, with Naby Keita, Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all dropping to the substitutes’ bench as Klopp thinks about rotation ahead of the busy festive period with two starts in the space of a few days now a tough ask.

Using a 4-2-3-1 system, we then expect Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino to return and be joined in attacking midfield by Xherdan Shaqiri on the right, with Mo Salah playing as the centre-forward.

In other Liverpool news, Reds fans have called on the club to sign a 21-year-old centre-back who could be available for £68m in the summer…
