AC Milan propose deal for Nabil Fekir at knockdown price

AC Milan are reportedly set to make a move for Liverpool transfer target Nabil Fekir.

CalcioMercato report that Milan, under the leadership of new coach Marco Giampaolo, are looking to add some attacking guile to their squad and Lyon attacker Fekir is on their radar.

The 25-year-old was almost a Liverpool player last summer before a £53million deal collapsed at the 11th hour with the Reds understood to be concerned over a knee problem.

Now though Milan are chasing the France international and eager to complete a deal said to be worth £26.7million, just over half of what the Reds were willing to pay for Fekir last summer.

Fekir had an average season in Ligue 1 with nine goals and seven assists from 29 appearances, and with his contract having just one-year to run his value is depreciating quickly.

It’s understood Lyon chief Jean-Michel Aulas is concerned that Fekir could walk away on a free next summer and is open to selling the player for a knockdown price.

Only last week he explained that a move was in the offing for Fekir.

He told L’Equipe: “His preference is shifting towards a move. We are open to discussions.”

Liverpool’s hopes were also raised again earlier this month when Lyon-based paper Le Progres (via Foot01), claimed the Reds ‘have returned to the charge, but would not be willing to invest as much as last summer’.

They claim that €50million is deemed too high a price by the Reds, but alludes to the friendly between Lyon and Liverpool on July 31 in Geneva as a potential meeting point for negotiations.
