Contract signed as Man Utd move closer to announcing 353-goal striker

Manchester United have reached an agreement to sign Edinson Cavani on a two-year deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

United have been in the market for a new attacker, and Cavani has emerged as a major target after being released by Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the summer.

Cavani scored 200 goals in 301 games for PSG, adding to 153 more goals between his previous clubs. He will bring a wealth of experience to help younger forwards like Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.

With no transfer fee to pay, all United have had to do is negotiate a contract with the Uruguay international.

While at first they had some concerns about his hefty salary, they are now closing in on a deal. According to Romano, Cavani is currently signing the first part of his deal, after United agreed fees with his agents.

The 33-year-old will join United on a contract until June 2022.

Cavani is expected to be one of three deadline day signings for the Red Devils. United are also in the hunt for Alex Telles from Porto and Penarol winger Facundo Pellistri.
