Real Madrid are hopeful of beating Man Utd and Chelsea to a Porto star, while Liverpool face competition for a major midfield target, according to Thursday’s European papers.
REAL MADRID READY MILITAO SPLURGE
Real Madrid are ready to beat Liverpool and Manchester United to the signing of a Porto star with a big-money January bid, a report claims.
The Portuguese giants are desperate for Eder Militao to pen a new deal to increase his release fee – despite only having signed a new contract until 2023 back in the summer
However, interest is growing, and Liverpool’s resources have been stretched in recent weeks with central defenders Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez all on the sidelines, while this week Trent Alexander-Arnold added to their concerns as he was ruled out of action for a month.
As such, the Daily Record journalist Duncan Castles claims Klopp has asked Liverpool to make one transfer splurge in the January market to try and give his squad a timely boost and further their options.
According to AS, Militao has emerged as a primary transfer target for Real Madrid and the LaLiga giants are readying a bid.
Los Blancos are reportedly happy to meet the €50m (£44m) buy-out clause in his current deal during the current window, rather than risk paying more during the summer.
The Brazilian has also been mentioned as a target for both Manchester United and Chelsea.
SPURS JOIN RACE FOR LYON STAR
Tottenham have joined the list of clubs interested Nabil Fekir due to the injury sustained by Harry Kane, according to the latest reports.
France international Fekir was on the verge of a £60million move to Anfield, but the Reds reportedly pulled out of a move due to an old knee injury that showed up during the medical.
French outlet L’Equipe (via Calciomercato) suggested that Real Madrid were keen on landing the 25-year-old in the summer as they sought a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, while they also linked Chelsea with a move.
Now, Italian publication CalcioMercato report that Spurs have identified Fekir as the man they want to help plug the gap left by Kane’s absence.
Kane suffered the injury during the final stages of Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday, after being caught in the middle of Phil Jones and Victor Lindelof.
The initial prognosis from Tottenham’s medical staff suggested early March as a potential date for return to training.
The Evening Standard claimed that the club could potentially dip into the transfer market due to the injury, with a meeting set to discuss targets.
Calciomercato that Mauricio Pochettino is ready to pounce and beat Liverpool to Fekir’s signature in January, with the Reds having ‘not given up’ on his signing.
