“Gerrard best keep him” – Many Rangers fans rave about “baller” who’s “much better than Barker”

Having been handed a rare opportunity to impress on Sunday afternoon, it’s fair to say Jordan Jones took his chance with both hands for Rangers.

The winger’s only taste of football this season has been in the Europa League, and even that has only seen him play 18 minutes when he took to the field as a substitute against Willem II.

Are you a massive Rangers fan? Know everything about the club? Well do you know your Gary Stevens from your Michael Ball? This quiz will separate the loyal from the fake…

But after Steven Gerrard started him on the right-hand side against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, Jones delivered a superb display, scoring once and enjoying a lively afternoon overall.

As per Sofascore, he had two shots on goal, attempted two dribbles and sent in a pair of crosses too as Gerrard’s men romped to a 5-1 thrashing of their opponents at Fir Park.

And after seeing his display, Rangers fans took to Twitter to share their reactions.

Some Rangers fans were quick to insist that Jones is far better than Brandon Barker, with one supporter even claiming that the former’s display against Motherwell had more in it than what Rangers’ usual starter has produced all season.

If Gerrard is looking for people to keep the first-team regulars on their toes and ensuring they don’t let up, then he got exactly that with Jones’ performance.

The winger seemed to rise to the challenge of appearing in his first Scottish Premiership game of the season, and there were no signs of real rust or lack of sharpness.

If there were, he certainly didn’t show them, and his performance got the goal it deserved. Gerrard will have to make a big call as to whether he keeps Jones in the team from now on.
