Grealish ‘weighing up’ options but Man Utd cast aside by ‘top tier’ suitors

Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish is aware of the ‘top tier’ interest in his services but Manchester United are an unlikely next destination, according to a report.

Grealish announced himself at the top level last season after leading Villa magnificently in the Premier League. As such, he became the subject of intense links with a move to Old Trafford.

However, he dispelled such rumours by signing a bumper new five-year deal at his boyhood club.

Several reports have touted the reasons behind United’s failed move for Grealish. Stretty News, though, claims that the Red Devils put all their focus into a deal for Jadon Sancho.

Villa reportedly offered their star midfielder to Old Trafford chiefs, who were unwilling to pay around £80million. Indeed, United were always aware of Sancho’s £108million price tag.

And with Borussia Dortmund winger Sancho their top target, they turned down the chance to sign Grealish.

Since signing his new deal, the midfielder has gone from strength to strength, both domestically and internationally. He has scored four goals Premier League goals and assisted six others, leading to a first England call-up.

The Three Lions selection, though, was a huge development that saw his stock rise significantly. The 25-year-old has taken to international football excellently, too.

As such, Stretty News adds that the midfielder’s situation has ‘drastically changed’. There are now a ‘plethora’ of ‘top tier’ clubs keen on his services, with Grealish considering his options.

However, after United’s decision not to spend in the summer, they now find themselves barely in the picture.

Recent reports have linked Real Madrid with a swoop. Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane has reportedly ordered club scouts to keep an eye on Grealish’s progress.

Meanwhile, further speculation claims that United will return to a deal for Sancho next summer.

The Red Devils did not get a deal for the Englishman over the line, owing to his £108million fee.

However, Todofichajes says that Sancho has now forced Dortmund’s hand into organising fresh exit talks.
