“He’ll attract players” – Exclusive: Pundit claims 66 y/o “is the man” to replace Bilic at WBA

Chris Kirkland believes there is only one “man to go to” if Slaven Bilic faces the sack at West Brom.

The Baggies have found life very tough back in the Premier League.

Albion are winless in their seven attempts thus far and sit third from bottom on only three points. And it won’t get any easier anytime soon with both Spurs and Manchester United on the horizon.

It has led to reports suggesting that the Croatian’s position as manager is under serious scrutiny going into the international break. A poor result at home to Jose Mourinho’s rampant side could spell the end after a year at the club.

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, the former Albion loanee claimed that Sam Allardyce would be the ideal replacement to drag the Midlands outfit out of the mire, he said:

“Sam [Allardyce] would be the one possibly wouldn’t he. It all depends on where they are in December.

“If they do lose games and they are adrift, or not adrift but need wins, he is the man to go to, isn’t he.

“Long-term, we’ve seen what he did at Bolton, obviously that was a long time ago but you need stability. The biggest thing with Sam is he’ll attract players you know, he’ll get players to come to him.”

The 66-year-old has been out of work since leaving Everton in May 2018 and he also rejected the chance to go back to Newcastle United a year later, claiming that one should never go back to a former team.

No one else in history has managed more Premier League clubs than Allardyce – Bolton Wanderers, Newcastle, Blackburn Rovers, West Ham United, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Everton.

Nor does he have a single relegation from the top-flight on his CV.

Many of those aforementioned clubs were either saved or stabilised under his stewardship and some even fell off into the abyss following his departure.

But to be out of the game for two years now, you’d imagine it would be one almighty ask to come in and steer the sinking Baggies ship. Should he even want such a gig.
