Hudson-Odoi ready turn back on huge Chelsea offer

Callum Hudson-Odoi will turn down Chelsea’s offer of a new £85,000-a-week contract, according to a report.

The Blues youngster has refused to extend his contract with the London club with the Daily Mail claiming last week that Hudson-Odoi would be offered a new deal worth a minimum of £50,000-per-week, with bonuses that could see him land up to £70,000-per-week.

The club are now prepared to increase that offer with his Chelsea contract set to expire in 18 months, but he does not want to sign a new deal, despite breaking into Maurizio Sarri’s first team this season.

The England winger has made 15 appearances this term, but he made only a 10-minute appearance from the bench in the defeat to Arsenal at the weekend and he seems destined on leaving Stanford Bridge.

Bayern Munich have made four bids for the 18-year-old with the last one at £35m, which is believed to still be on the table.

The Bundesliga champions’ vision remains to lure Hudson-Odoi to Germany and they have gone public on their pursuit of the player. A fact which has annoyed Sarri, who has claimed it was “not professional” and accused Bayern of disrespecting Chelsea.

The Italian boss wants to keep the England man and after the recent FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest he claimed his chance had arrived and admitted the youngster is at the same level as Pedro and Willian.

“He is a very important player, he is young but improving, especially in the defensive phase. He is improving and I am very happy with him. I don’t know the situation for the club, but for me he is an important player,” said Sarri.

“I don’t think so (moving to Germany to be a good situation). He is an English player, he has a great future here in England, with the national team with Chelsea.

Bayern though remain as keen as ever to get hold of Hudson-Odoi, who currently earns in the region of £22,000-per-week at the Bridge.

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic recently said: “We must identify those players which can improve us. He has the qualities that fit our game. He is fast, good at dribbling and he has an eye for goal. He would fit very well into our team.”
