Manchester United are yet to see the best of Bruno Fernandes after his teammate Odion Ighalo named the qualities that make him such a brilliant addition to the Red Devils ranks.
Fernandes’ arrival does seem to have kick-started United’s campaign with the team unbeaten in 9 games in all competitions since his debut and 11 in total.
Such has been his impact since his transfer, which could set United back as much as £68million, he has already shot into the top 10 of our Player of the Year ladder. Some start!
Fernandes once again caught the eye on Thursday night as United destroyed Austrian side LASK to put one foot into the Europa League quarter-finals – whenever that might be played – and his partnership with Juan Mata that night led to this plea from the Spaniard.
And such has been his form, that pundit Owen Hargreaves paid Fernandes the ultimate compliment by stating his form has not only lifted the entire club, but also every player in the United side.
“He’s been magnificent,” Hargreaves said. “He has made everyone better.”
“He loves shots from outside the box, he is one of the best at it. His goals and assists are right there.
“Everyone is playing better. He has given everyone a lift and he is the real deal.”
Now Ighalo has warned the rest of the Premier League that they are still to see Fernandes at his best, saying they have only seen glimpses of the midfielder’s talent.
The Nigerian forward who has also impressed since joining on loan from Shanghai Shenua, has previous with Fernandes after the two first crossed paths in Serie A a decade ago.
And speaking to the BBC, Ighalo said: “It’s not my first time playing with Bruno. I played with him at Udinese back in 2010.
“He’s a great player. He has vision. He’s the guy who wants the ball because he can do something fantastic with it if you give him space.
“He’s a good passer of the ball and he’s what this team needs to score goals.”
Questions were asked about the £68m fee United agreed to pay for Fernandes, but Ighalo feels like he’s already paid a chunk of it back, such has been his excellent start at Old Trafford.
“You’re still going to see more and better from him because he is still getting used to the Premier League,” he said.
“When he’s finally settled Bruno Fernandes is going to do well in this team.
‘Before I came here I knew Manchester United were looking at him and I was hoping they would get him because he is a good player and I knew he was going to change the dynamic of the team.
“He’s not going to have the best game every time but what he is going to bring to the team is going to be unbelievable.”

United took the lead in Austria through a thunderbolt by Ighalo and pundit Paul Ince made a bizarre claim of how playing in front of an empty stadium may have aided the player.
“Here he juggles it three times and fires it into the top corner,” Ince said at half-time on BT Sport.
“It reminds me of one of those that you would do at training. If it was a full house, I don’t know if I am doing a disservice to him, I don’t know.
“It is a wonderful goal, let me tell you that. A wonderful strike. That is something you would try in training.”
Hargreaves disagreed with Ince’s theory and revealed how the goal reminded him of something former Leeds United forward Tony Yeboah used to produce.
“That is a beautiful goal,” he said. “It is one of the best goals he has ever scored. That is like Tony Yeboah that.
“That goal sums up United as their confidence is flying. Great finish.”
