Leeds have reportedly switched Championship targets and are ready to make a move for a Derby midfielder ahead of Friday’s EFL transfer deadline.
Marcelo Bielsa has been on the hunt for a box-to-box midfielder over the course of the summer, having strengthened his defence and attack.
Norwich star Todd Cantwell was Leeds’ top target, with Football Insider claiming that the Canaries rejected a £15million bid.
Bayern Munich youngster Michael Cuisance also came close to a switch to Elland Road. However, Leeds pulled out of that deal after the player failed a medical.

But now Football Insider also reports that the Premier League side are chasing highly-rated Rams star Louie Sibley.
The report states that Leeds are impressed with the 19-year-old’s progression at Derby over the last few months.
However, Bielsa’s men are yet to submit a formal offer for the versatile midfielder.
Sibley has been a key player for the Rams so far this season. He has the ability to play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a No.10.
And with Norwich holding out for nearer to £20m for Cantwell, Sibley is a more affordable option.
The report adds that Bielsa is excited about developing the player, as he did with Ben White last season and has continued to do so with Jack Harrison.
Sibley has already notched five goals and two assists in 11 games this term. He would offer immediate competition to a Leeds midfield that has started the new campaign well.
Finally, the report adds that Leeds chiefs will test Derby’s resolve to hold onto Sibley as the deadline draws nearer.
Leeds linked with Man Utd star
Leeds have been touted as a suitable destination for Man Utd left-back Brandon Wiliams.
The Red Devils left it late, but pulled the trigger on two eye-catching deals on deadline day last week.
Veteran Uruguayan Edinson Cavani arrived to bolster the forward ranks, while marauding defender Alex Telles is projected to assume the starting left-back role.
That will likely push Luke Shaw onto the bench, but a further consequence will be the hampered development of Williams.
The 20-year-old made 36 appearances in a breakthrough year last season. However, with the early rounds of the Carabao Cup completed and Man Utd now in the Champions League, opportunities for a third-choice left-back will be extremely limited.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was reportedly mulling over allowing Williams to leave on loan. Ultimately, no such decision was made ahead of last week’s deadline.
