Man Utd deal myth busted, as Tottenham striker target agrees £20m move

Alexander Sorloth has agreed to move to RB Leipzig after Tottenham pulled the plug on their interest in the Crystal Palace striker.

Leipzig teased the signing of Norway international Sorloth on Twitter, with the 24-year-old replacing Timo Werner.

According to reliable reporter Fabrizio Romano (via Twitter), the move comes after Tottenham ended their interest in the player.

Spurs are keen to bring in a new marksman to provide vital support to England captain Harry Kane. Sorloth was one candidate on the club’s shortlist, after his recent stunning form.

The forward moved to Trabzonspor on loan last season, scoring 33 goals and providing 11 assists.

However, recent reports claimed Sorloth’s move to Leipzig looked in doubt. He reportedly skipped his medical after a “very big offer” from an English club.

Indeed, the report mentioned Spurs and Manchester United‘s interest in a deal. According to Romano, though, United were never keen on pursuing a deal for Sortloth.

Instead, Leipzig has always proved the likely destination for the striker and he has now completed a £20million move to the German club.

Sortloth moved to Palace in January 2018 but only made 20 appearances for the club in that time.

Instead he agreed to two loan spells across Europe. A year after arriving in England, he joined Gent until the end of the 2018/19 season.

After that, he moved to Turkey, where he announced himself on the continental stage with his superb form.

Kane has continued to be his side’s talisman for a number of seasons, but he struggled last season with a serious hamstring problem.

As such, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has reportedly turned to Benfica in his latest striker enquiries.

Tottenham have reportedly asked about Haris Seferovic and Carlos Vinicius, but have not been encouraged by the Portuguese club’s stance on either player.
