Paul Pogba’s hopes of moving to Real Madrid could be scuppered by a 17-year-old, while Barcelona are ready to make a move for a Man City playmaker, according to Saturday’s Paper Talk.
POGBA LEFT SWEATING OVER REAL MADRID MOVE
Paul Pogba’s hopes of a move to Real Madrid appear to have suffered a significant blow, if the latest reports are to be believed.
A report in the Daily Express, via Marca claims that Real’s board would sooner spend their money on 17-year-old Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes instead of Pogba.
Pogba has been angling for a move away from Old Trafford for a number of months now, after claiming that he’s ready for a new challenge.
Real Madrid and former club Juventus have always been the most likely destinations for the France midfielder, but it appears that Zinedine Zidane may be losing his battle to sign his fellow countryman.
Zidane has always been keen on recruiting the World Cup winner, but Real chiefs have been more hesitant – especially with United demanding a transfer fee upwards of £100million.
Now, they would rather Zidane signed youngster Camavinga from Ligue 1 side Rennes.
It’s believed that Camavinga would compliment Casemiro in central midfield, as he’s more defensive than Pogba.
And with the France Under-21 star also nine years younger than Pogba, that would offer Los Blancos more of a long-term option and give them better value for money.
Any move for the midfielder would like cost around £60million, whereas Pogba could cost as much as double that.
However, the report adds that the Real the board are still yet to convince Zidane that Camavinga is a more worthwhile signing than the Red Devils star.
