Paper Talk: Chelsea draw up swap offer to lure £110m keeper target; Arsenal want two more signings

Chelsea have offered Atletico Madrid a cash-plus-player swap for a goalkeeper target, while Arsenal want two more signings and Newcastle have joined the race for a Manchester United defender. It’s all in Saturday’s Paper Talk.

CHELSEA OFFER ATLETICO KEPA SWAP

Chelsea could offer Kepa Arrizabalaga as a makeweight in a bid to sign Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid.

The Blues are looking to replace Kepa this summer after Frank Lampard dropped him more than once last season.

Indeed, the former Athletic Bilbao keeper has failed to live up to his price tag since sealing his record move to Stamford Bridge two years ago.

Oblak would be a major upgrade on the Spain international. Many regard the Atletico shot-stopper as the best goalkeeper in the world.

However, according to The Star, Chelsea are unwilling to meet the £110m asking price for Oblak.

Therefore, they could send Kepa as a counterpart in the opposite direction. While they would still have to pay cash on top, it would help reduce the cost of the deal.

Atletico are ready for talks with Oblak in the coming weeks. He could consider a departure after they were knocked out of the Champions League.

However, Atletico will only let him leave if someone activates his £110m release clause in full. And in addition, Diego Simeone is not fully convinced by the chance to sign Kepa.

Despite this, Oblak could still be on the move. Reports in Europe suggest Atletico have already lined up his replacement.

According to Sportske Novosti, Atletico could sign Lokomotiva Zagreb goalkeeper Ivo Grbic for £5.4m as early as this week.

Therefore, Oblak’s departure from Atletico could have moved a step closer.
