Paper Talk: Leeds sent transfer message after increasing bid for Liverpool star; Newcastle claim first dibs on Arsenal striker

Leeds have been given the green light to sign a Liverpool star, but not until next week, while Newcastle have asked Arsenal to be kept in the loop over their plans for a striker, according to Monday’s paper gossip.

HARRY WILSON MOVE FOR LEEDS

Leeds are reported to have made their move after Liverpool decided to cash in on Harry Wilson.

The Wales winger is back at Anfield this summer after spending the season on loan at Bournemouth.

Wilson was hoping for a chance to impress Jurgen Klopp this season, but instead has been made available.

It was expected that Wilson would be allowed to leave on loan again. However, as per the Liverpool Echo, he will be made available on a permanent deal only.

That’s because Liverpool are looking to generate extra cash to boost their own transfer expenditure this summer.

Newcastle, Southampton and Leeds have all submitted bids, with a fee of £12.5m being bandied about.

However, as per The Sun, Leeds have submitted an increased bid of £15m for Wilson in order to secure his signature.

That is a fee likely to secure his move to Elland Road, though there does appear a minor catch.

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool have told Leeds the deal can only go through AFTER Saturday’s Premier League opener between the sides.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is seeking another winger and has also made a move for Rangers’ Ryan Kent.

However, Wilson is his first choice and it seems a deal to take him to Leeds could go through next week.

Liverpool, meanwhile, also look set to wave farewell to another young product. As per the Echo, winger Sheyi Ojo, 23, looks set to join Cardiff City on loan, despite interest from Nottingham Forest.
