Revised Arsenal, Tottenham stance on star free agent swoop revealed

Arsenal and Tottenham do not consider Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser to be a priority target this summer, according to a report.

Fraser was close to moving to Arsenal at the end of last season after finishing second in the Premier League’s assist charts behind Eden Hazard.

The Scotland international admitted that the speculation affected him but there has been no let up in the rumours, with his contract set to expire in the coming months.

Fraser is expected to leave at the end of the season and earlier reports suggested that both London clubs were keen on a move.

However, The Athletic claims that neither side will move for the winger as a priority and have other targets on their radar ahead of him.

The 26-year-old has struggled to recreate his form this term, scoring one goal and assisting four others.

Fraser told BBC Radio Solent in January about the Arsenal links: “I think everyone knows by now what’s happened, to be honest. I’m just trying to play my football. Obviously it affected me the first four months of the season.

“I wasn’t myself, I didn’t play for the team. I’m honest enough to admit that.

“I look back at it. I spoke to my family about it and it just looked bad on me. I didn’t help the team.

“It shouldn’t have taken me that long to realise, but I’m my own worst critic and I apologised to the lads.

“All I can really say is that, for the next six months, I’ll give everything for the club.

“After that, I don’t really know what’s going to happen.”

FRASER ONE OF MANY

Fraser is one of a host of players whose contract runs out at the end of the season and who will likely move elsewhere in the coming months.

Chelsea pair Willian and Pedro and Liverpool duo Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne are among them.

Willian has confirmed that he is at an impasse with Chelsea, who have offered two more years as opposed to his own wish of three.

Lallana, meanwhile, has been linked with Leicester where he could reunite with former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers.

Tottenham’s high-profile player on the list is defender Jan Vertonghen.

The former Ajax defender is one of Spurs’ longest-serving stars having joined in 2012 and signing his latest contract in 2018.

The Dutchman has been linked with Inter Milan and Real Betis in recent weeks.
