Staggering Edwards asking price puts Liverpool winger’s loan move in jeopardy

Liverpool risk scaring off clubs keen on a loan move for Harry Wilson because of their asking price for the winger, according to reports.

Wilson fell down the Anfield hierarchy a while back but he has so far managed to find regular game time elsewhere.

The 23-year-old moved to Derby in 2018/19 before signing up at Bournemouth last season in a second successive loan spell.

More recently, Liverpool negotiated with Burnley about a permanent deal for the Wales international. However the two clubs could not agree and the move collapsed.

Since then, the window for trades between Premier League clubs has closed, with a separate window for top-flight and EFL agreements open until 5pm on Friday.

However, according to Football Insider, Liverpool also look unlikely to agree with at least four Championship suitors.

Previous reports have claimed that Derby and Swansea are among the clubs keen on a long-term deal. But the latest report says Liverpool are demanding a loan fee ‘well in excess of £1million’.

That valuation is one which the second-tier clubs are unwilling to match and Liverpool reportedly risk being left without a willing suitor unless they lower their demands.

Wilson impressed in his loan spell at Derby, scoring several eye-catching free-kicks. He then scored seven goals for Bournemouth, who ultimately suffered relegation.

Since then, he has returned to Merseyside but has found chances limited. Indeed his appearance in the EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal was only his second senior outing under Jurgen Klopp.

Wilson one of several exit-seeking Liverpool stars

Wilson is one of several Liverpool players who actively sought moves away in the recent transfer window.

Midfielder Marko Grujic moved to Porto on loan while goalkeeper Loris Karius has moved to Union Berlin for the season.

Elsewhere, Rhian Brewster became Sheffield United’s club-record signing in an effort to add goals to the side and Ki-Jana Hoever left for Wolves.
