Tottenham pulling out all the stops to keep Pochettino with quadruple signing

Mauricio Pochettino is set for huge backing in the transfer market this summer as Tottenham look to keep their impressive boss.

The Argentine has hinted on numerous occasions that he could move on after the Champions League final, a game his side lost 2-0 to Premier League rivals Liverpool on Saturday night.

And Pochettino chose to highlight the financial advantages of his top-four and European rivals after his men lost in Madrid.

He said: “We are a team that has priorities that is shared with the stadium. We looked at the quality of our players in the final but it would have been incredible to win and lift the trophy.

“It would have been something that would have surprised people because in the last five years Tottenham prioritised their stadium and spent zero on transfers. We’re not the smartest in the class, but not the stupidest either.

“But it is incredible and this club deserves a lot of credit. The fanbase deserves a lot of credit. Hopefully it will be the beginning of a very successful period for the club.”

However, it would appear that Spurs are ready to pull out all the stops to keep Pochettinho, with chairman Daniel Levy ready to sanction moves for four new signings.

The north London outfit have already had big-money bids rejected for Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso and Lyon midfield enforcer Tanguy Ndombele, but are expected to make improved offers.

There is also significant interest in Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez and Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon, while a move for Sessegnon’s younger brother Steven is also said to be on the cards.

Levy is mindful that Pochettino quit as Southampton boss in 2014 after they were unable to provide him with assurances they’d be able to keep their best players and break into the elite.

The report goes on to state that Pochettino wants an overhaul of the squad, with the futures of Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld, Victor Wanyama and Kieran Trippier all in doubt, while Fernando Llorente is also expected to be released.
